Four Star Freightliner Donates To Family Sunshine Center
Following through on a pledge to support more community organizations, Four Star Freightliner, Inc. made a donation to the Family Sunshine Center, a non-profit organization that raises awareness about domestic violence and sexual assault and the services that are available to victims.
The $1,100.00 donation was accepted by Karen Sellers, the organization's executive director. She said the money would be matched by funds dispersed on a federal level through the Victim of Crime Assistance Fund.
"Those funds go down to the local community to provide shelter and counseling to victims of domestic violence, child abuse, and sexual assault," said Sellers. "A $1,100.00 gift is more like an additional $4,400.00 gift for us." Sellers said the donation would be used for counseling and safe shelter for the clients they serve in Alabama.
"We support the Family Sunshine Center because of its immediate impact the organization has on our community," said Jerry Kocan, Four Star Freightliner Dealer Principal.
The Family Sunshine Center has been serving victims and survivors of family violence for 30 years in Autauga, Butler, Chilton, Crenshaw, Elmore, Lowndes and Montgomery counties in Alabama.
