The future of the diesel industry was on full display at this year’s Employer Showcase hosted by Elmore County Technical Center. Held on April 3 in Wetumpka, the event brought together local employers and students for a hands-on, high-energy day focused on career exploration and real-world connections.

Unlike a traditional career fair, the Employer Showcase creates a more meaningful experience for both students and businesses. Employers are paired directly with instructors and rotate through multiple small-group sessions throughout the day. Students pre-select the sessions they want to attend, allowing for more intentional conversations and stronger engagement. Over the course of the event, each employer meets with a wide range of students across four different class waves, totaling 12 sessions.

Four Star Freightliner was proud to take part in this year’s event, represented by Timothy Bibb and Amanda Granger. Throughout the day, they connected with students enrolled in diesel technology and other technical programs, sharing insights about careers in the trucking industry and the opportunities available through Four Star’s apprentice program.

One of the most encouraging takeaways from the event was the level of knowledge students already had. Many demonstrated a solid understanding of diesel systems and showed familiarity with truck parts that were presented during the sessions. Their curiosity and willingness to engage stood out, making each interaction both productive and rewarding.

Even more promising was the interest several students expressed in pursuing a future with Four Star. Conversations around the apprentice program sparked genuine enthusiasm, with students asking thoughtful questions about career paths, training, and long-term growth in the industry.

Events like the Employer Showcase highlight the value of connecting education with industry. By creating space for direct interaction, students gain a clearer picture of what their future could look like, while employers have the chance to meet and encourage the next generation of skilled professionals.

Four Star Freightliner looks forward to continuing its partnership with Elmore County Technical Center and supporting students as they take the next step toward careers in diesel technology and beyond.
